Weekly hire is widely available in the UK/EU (£299/wk CMW, €465/wk Leasametric). Used units at ~$11–12k are only ~25% under a new DSX2-8000, so check calibration date and Versiv 1 vs 2 before buying used. Rule of thumb: rent when a job needs the tool for a few weeks a year; buy when it's out every week. Factor in annual calibration and that used units may arrive with a stale calibration certificate. Third-party DSX calibrations we've seen: $385 (DSX-602) to $660 (DSX-5000).
